What is Depression?

Depression is configured as a singular state of mind which compels the person in a state of emotional imprisonment and expulsion from the world. The “prison” is given by the individual himself, his inner world that engulfs more every day, which falls into the darkness accompanied only by the uncomfortable feeling of not being able to return.

Depression

There is nothing, absolutely nothing in the external reality that can stimulate the interest of the depressed, let alone turn a glimmer of planning. When we hear of so-called “lack of interest” that characterize depressed people, we only deal with a banal platitude, a funny euphemism that can shift the focus just on the tip of the iceberg.

Depression destroys the interests of the person, they crumble to the point where they become very fine sand. And how hard the individual performs, as efforts to put us, as it can receive help, its interests and its solid granite work are now just sand that slips through his fingers. A depressive state leaves no room for spiritual strength, motivation, the ability to plan.

In this gloomy feeling of despair abandoned the only “desire” that you can tell is that the nightmare will end as soon as possible. And for a funny twist of fate is the same to procrastinate more and more depressed waking nightmare: sleeping almost all day – or looking forward to do so – the depressed person surrenders to the supine lethargy of his life. Yet, although it may seem paradoxical, especially when it comes a deep depression is a case of saying “every cloud has a silver lining.”

The state of severe prostration and killing that are thus created, in fact, force Game-force the individual to confront the darker aspects, and secrets of his unpredictable personality. Sinking to the depths of the soul, sooner or later comes a time when “it hits the bottom.” The elements that enable us to understand that he had “hit bottom” varies from person to person, but generally it is the awareness of having trampled themselves, of having allowed themselves sucked into a degraded condition and psychological staff, to ensure that the depressed path feels a chill chilling. And this is a short but very precious moment when a feeble light illuminates the darkness for a few moments in which you are immersed.

They are moments to be seized, in which you must quickly decide whether to relax on the bottom waiting for the death of the soul, or conversely, whether to transform the very bottom in a launch pad from which to start and emerge. Only those who have experienced personally the frightening and fascinating adventure of a journey in the basement of his soul will be able to understand this discourse, all others will be content to watch in disbelief to the evolution of the psyche of others.

A really interesting aspect of depression is given by the blatant contrast between the sterility of days spent as a captive creatures of their own lives, and the great fertility of the time when you decide to start living again. At that moment, in fact, the individual carries on his shoulders a heavy burden: it’s all psychological experiences and reflections generated by the depression itself. That are not a burden, but a valuable input that the individual may elect to capitalize. A depression is not clear how he had never before profoundness, depression is particularly metamorphosis and, often, inner enrichment. The suffering of the soul and depression, that it is one of the most “prominent” representatives, often become the spark from which blazed a true creative fire, or the will to deal with renewed interest.

Carotene, The Basis of Personality, Studies Bompiani, Milan 2000 Symptoms of depression Depression is a chronic mood characterized by sadness, loss of interest and activities (apathy), loneliness, guilt and inability to experience pleasure (anhedonia). Who is affected by a feeling of constant boredom, difficulty in performing normal activities, everything seems to be difficult and uninteresting. The emotional detachment from family and loved ones becomes increasingly strong as the feeling of being barren and empty, devoid of feelings. The depression is manifested by a decrease in spontaneous movements and a tightening of the facial expressions, language becomes even more barren, the answers are short and agitated, and the topics I covered will be minimized. It all becomes heavy and difficult, move, talk, express their ideas.
